We are launching our 2023 Festival of Walking at The National Outdoor Expo (18 – 19 March) at the Birmingham NEC and we are inviting people to ‘save the date’.
The YHA Festival of Walking is taking place across England and Wales from 3rd September – 19th October 2023.
The festival, which aims to introduce more people to the health/wellbeing and social benefits of walking and time outdoors is being organised by us, as part of our mission to increase access to the outdoors for everyone.
More than 1500 people took part in our festival pilot last year and this year, we want to get even more people walking. During the 2023 Festival of Walking, we are offering discounted stays at 60 hostels across England and Wales, free route maps and free-to-join social walks.
We have once again partnered with Ordnance Survey, The Ramblers, The BMC and Cotswold Outdoor to deliver the festival.
Targeted at both seasoned and novice walkers, we have developed 186 circular tried and tested walking routes, including accessible routes, from our hostels throughout England and Wales.
The festival aims to bring all walkers, regardless of ability – together at hostels across England and Wales, as well as introduce new voices and faces to the UK’s landscapes.
More than 80 of our hostels are located on National Trails in England and Wales and provide a convenient, safe and welcoming base for people to get active.
In addition to the free-to-download walking routes, there are also a number of free-to-join social walks during the festival. The social walks offer a great opportunity to get involved in walking and meet with likeminded people.
Walking routes, details of social walks and 20% discount on our accommodation during the festival, can all be accessed on our website.
