Dog-friendly glamping in the Lake District

Tipis at YHA Windermere

There’s nowhere more pet friendly than the Lake District. With miles and miles of fells, woodlands, and meadows to explore, plus lakes to make a splash in, the Lake District is a veritable theme park for doggies.

Camp under canvas with your pooch in one of the tipis or bell tents, which are available to book at YHA Hawkshead. And the best bit? You won’t need to fill up the car with your own kit or struggle to put up your tent, as all the hard work has been done for you.

Both tipis and bell tents have wood burners inside, so you can get cosy after a day in the hills. All bedding is included, so you can flop whenever you’re ready to. The only bed you’ll need to pack is your dog’s.

For a dog friendly glamping activity break, book a stay in a tipi at YHA Coniston Holly How. The spacious tipis sleep up to four people plus four-legged friends and come complete with eco-friendly solar lighting and a wood burner to keep you snug.

Tipis are a great option if you love to camp but hate roughing it – the real definition of glamping. You can also stay in one at YHA Windermere, a stunning hostel set in four acres of wooded grounds, perfect for walkies.

YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe is another dog-friendly glamping option in the Lakes with its unique Landpods. These quirky glamping pods are perfect if you fancy sleeping under the stars – they have a canopy roof that you can open and roll back so you’re (almost) sleeping outside.

With plenty of space for four people and four paws, Landpods offer an exciting and different stay. Humans have access to all of the hostel’s facilities, including the bathrooms, showers and self-catering kitchens, so you can make use of these at your leisure throughout your holiday.

Holidays with pets in Cornwall

Bell tents at YHA Eden Project

Cornwall is another one of the most dog-friendly destinations in the UK. From beaches where your pooch can run to their heart’s content to cosy pubs where you can refuel with a pasty and a pint, dogs are made very welcome in this coastal county.

The premium bell tents at YHA Eden Project are a great base for exploring everything Cornwall has to offer, including this world-famous attraction. Perfect for families, these quirky tents sleep up to five and are fully kitted out with everything you need for a great glamping stay, including a wood burner that your pup can snooze in front of.

If you like to be beside the seaside, a stay in one of the bell tents at YHA Penzance is ideal for sandy paws and doggie paddling. Close to dog-friendly attractions such as Land’s End and the Minack Theatre, there’s plenty to do on a break here.

Along with premium bell tents, YHA Penzance is also home to quirky Landpods, where you can get closer to nature by opening the roof or toasting marshmallows around the fire pit.

Where to take your dog in Wales

Inside a bell tent

If you’re looking for a Welsh adventure with your dog, then Pembrokeshire should be top of your must-visit list. With lots of dog friendly attractions, over 50 beaches where pawprints are welcome, and countless coastal footpaths, Pembrokeshire was made for dogs and their owners.

We have two wonderful glamping sites in Pembrokeshire: YHA Manorbier and YHA Broad Haven. The glamping options here provide all bedding (for humans), so you can save space in the car for more treats and toys.

Wake up to the sounds and sights of nature in a Landpod at YHA Broad Haven, just a short wander from a beautiful Blue Flag beach. And if your pup needs tiring out, step out of your Landpod straight onto the Pembrokeshire coastal path and enjoy miles of seaside walkies.

When you get back, be sure to pop into the dog-friendly on-site café for a cuppa and a bite to eat. There may just be a couple of biscuits available for your mutt to munch on, too.

YHA Manorbier is another excellent spot for a seaside break. In addition to the Landpods, the hostel is home to premium bell tents. If you love to get cosy and snuggle up with your pup, these tents offer a wood burner, beds, and bedding.

For the convenience of the humans, there’s a separate shower and toilet block outside for glamping guests to use.

Quirky stays with dogs in Yorkshire

Landpod

Head up north to the stunning Yorkshire Dales where you’ll find the Landpods in the gorgeous grounds at YHA Grinton Lodge. There are plenty of routes for walkies here, no matter whether your dog prefers relaxing strolls or active adventures.

After a day in the gorgeous countryside here, you can return to your Landpod and open the roof to enjoy some stargazing while your pooch unwinds. Landpods are great if you love outdoor adventures and camping and come with extra blankets to keep you warm if it’s chilly outside. And don’t worry if it rains – they’re a truly all weather glamping option!

Dog friendly places to stay in the New Forest

YHA New Forest premium bell tent

YHA New Forest is peacefully located on the edge of the picturesque Hampshire village of Burley. For a stay in the great outdoors, choose from the premium bell tents or Landpods.

Premium bell tents offer a cosy stay for you and your pup with beds, bedding, and a log burner. Landpods are perfect if you and your dog love an outdoor adventure – there are extra blankets to keep you cosy and a roof that opens to keep you cool when it’s warmer. Plus you can re-charge your phone in one of the two solar powered USB ports.

This glampsite is the perfect base for exploring the cute tearooms, thatched roofs, and countryside walks this area is known for.

Glamping with dogs in Stratford-upon-Avon

Inside a bell tent

For the most cultured of canines, a glamping stay at YHA Stratford-upon-Avon could be right up your street. Set in three acres of grounds, the hostel has plenty of space for walkies, and it’s two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace if you want to venture further afield.

Stay in a spacious bell tent, which has plenty of space for you and your dog to relax, as well as beds and bedding for humans. Enjoy sharing stories around the outside firepit or cosy up inside next to the wood burner after a day of adventures.

Near the bell tents, you’ll find a toilet and shower block for humans, so you don’t need to go far to freshen up. There are also plenty of bins around the grounds so you can easily clean up after your dog with no worries about where to dispose of your rubbish.

Can you take pets glamping?

Of course! You can take your dog glamping at most of the YHA Camping & Cabins sites.

In fact, glamping is the perfect holiday for your furry friend. Your dog will love waking up to walkies on the doorstep, cosy spots to curl up in, and plenty of outdoor space to explore.

Don’t worry—we haven’t forgotten the humans. You’ll love YHA glamping sites just as much as your pup, with their incredible locations, quirky accommodation options, and use of hostel facilities such as the self-catering kitchen and bathrooms.

Glamping offers the perfect hassle-free alternative to camping as you don’t need to bring your tent with you or worry about putting it up (or worse, taking it down!) – especially in the rain.
