As a big family, it can often be tricky to find suitable accommodation to suit our needs. With YHA, that problem is eliminated as they have so many possibilities. Private rooms a choice of en suite or not, glamping – bell tents or Landpods and more.
You also have so many options of where to go. The list of possible destinations is amazing. With 146 hostels available the only difficulty is deciding which one to go to.
We have now stayed in 17 different locations and a few we have visited more than once!
We have recently stayed in two hostels: YHA Ironbridge Coalport and YHA Wye Valley, both we have stayed at previously.
One of the things I love most is the family all inclusive feel. There are lots of children travelling with parents/family. Somehow these children just seem to click. The amount of times I have been preparing dinner in the self catering kitchen while the children have found a friend and are playing in the games room or making games up outside is great.Â
Of course there is the option to dine at YHA hostels too. We had breakfast and dinner and it very good value for money and great food. There are several vegetarian options and a kids menu. With each adult meal purchased one child eats free.Â
Another special feel about staying with YHA is some of the buildings are really beautiful and set in the most stunning locations. Wye Valley was one of those situated on the river Wye. The child spent hours playing in the shallow depts of the river. It didn’t cost us a penny and we all had so much fun. Other hostels are near beaches, in lush woodlands or just in the middle of nowhere (my favourite place to be).
For our family, YHA gives us the opportunity to explore some wonderful places at very reasonable rates. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The children always say we are off on our adventures and I couldn’t agree more. So much so that we have just booked YHA Stratford Upon Avon.
