First up is a firm family favourite, YHA Boggle Hole. Located near Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, this property will delight and inspire you, with its treasure trails, stunning sea views and wooded grounds for kids to explore.

Give rock pooling, fossil hunting and sandcastle building a try, all a stone’s throw away from the hostel. If cycling is more your thing, take a leisurely bike ride along the National Cycle Route 1 or the North Sea trail which starts 10 minutes away. Suitable for even the littlest of legs and abilities. We’re sure you’ll have a wheelie good time.

If you’re looking for an adventure-filled family break, look no further than YHA National Forest. This Derbyshire gem is next door to Conkers visitor centre. There are 120 acres of charming woodlands, lakes, ponds and play areas to explore, as well as an 18- stage Activity Trail challenge with high and low ropes, zip wire and climbing walls to let loose on. Inside, there’s a 4D cinema, the Enchanted Play Zone and over 100 fascinating, interactive exhibits. The possibilities are endless at Conkers.

With splendid sea views and access to stunning coastal paths and sandy beaches from its clifftop location, YHA Manorbier is a great spot for a Welsh seaside family holiday. For a brood with older kids, take the plunge into surfing. You’ll find some of the best swells just a short walk away from the hostel. For a bigger surf, Freshwater West is a short drive away and the nearby surf school can provide equipment and lessons.

Or if you would like to go on a family expedition and discover the wonders of the beautiful surroundings, head to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The trail runs straight past the hostel door and boasts some truly amazing views. It’s one not to miss!
