YHA welcomes all staff back to Matlock office

The leading youth charity YHA (England & Wales) has welcomed all 180 staff back to its national office on Dimple Road in Matlock.

The office partially re-opened in August last year, however, due to Covid restrictions all staff were unable to be in the office together and had to work from home.

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week (9 – 15 May 2022), remaining workplace Covid restrictions were lifted by YHA, and all staff were invited into national office to share in coffee and cake.

Staff in YHA’s Matlock office operate the charity’s national contact centre, as well as back office functions which support the charity’s 150-strong network of youth hostels. In total, YHA employs more than 1100 people across England and Wales.

Philippa Anderson, Associate Director of People at YHA (England & Wales) commented “It was fantastic to finally bring everyone together after more than two years of remote working. Some of our head office staff, particularly those with young children, found home working beneficial and really enjoyed while others really suffered from loneliness and that’s something we wanted to address with our events during Mental Health Awareness Week.

“For many of the teams here in Matlock they have only been able to meet virtually since March 2020, so getting everyone together for cake and coffee was a great way to get people talking face-to-face again.”

2022 also marks the twentieth anniversary of the 92-year-old charity moving its national office to Matlock from St Albans!
