Whatever you need from a holiday, you’ll find it in Wales. With long swathes of sandy beaches, epic mountain scenery, and plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting, glamping in Wales is an excellent choice for adventure, relaxation, or a simple change of scenery.

We offer glamping accommodation in some of the most beautiful spots in Wales, including the Pembrokeshire National Park. Choose from sleeping under canvas in one of our premium bell tents or gazing up at the stars from our quirky Landpods.

Read on to find out more about where to glamp in Wales and why you should choose glamping for your holiday this year.

Glamping on the Pembrokeshire coastline

The Pembrokeshire coast is home to a wide variety of beaches. From soft golden sands to secluded coves and rock pools, there are over 50 beaches to choose from here. Whether you love sandy toes and salty kisses or you prefer to just enjoy the sea views, glamping here is a real treat.

We have two glamping locations in Pembrokeshire: YHA Manorbier and YHA Broad Haven.

To enjoy spectacular views over the rugged coastline on a trip where you won’t need to use the car, then opt for YHA Broad Haven. Literally a stone’s throw from a beautiful Blue Flag beach, you can head down to the sand for some fresh sea air. Just half a mile’s walk across the sand, and you’ll find the quaint fishing village of Little Haven with its colourful cottages and quayside. After a day of exploring, head back to the hostel and dine at Haven’s Beach Café. Depending on your appetite, you can indulge in a hearty meal or grab a light bite. The restaurant is also licensed, so you can get a chilled glass of wine or a pint if you fancy it.

Landpods at YHA Broad Haven

Two extended landpods

YHA Broad Haven has a glamp site with Landpods in its grounds. Our one-of-a-kind Landpods are half-tent, half-pod, and sleep up to four people in two double beds. They have an insulated canopy roof which you can raise up to stargaze in the evening or watch the sunrise in the morning.

All bedding is included, so you can save space in the car and leave your sleeping bags and pillows at home. This also saves on the washing when you get home, and we all know there’s enough work for the washing machine to do when you’ve packed for all four seasons for a British holiday! Like most glamping options, Landpods aren’t heated, but with an extra couple of blankets, you can stay really snug, even when the temperature drops.

Glamping guests also have access to all of the hostel’s facilities, including the toilets and showers, lounge and social areas, and self-catering kitchen. There’s also free Wi-Fi throughout the hostel, so you can keep in touch with family and friends or work remotely if you need to.

Affordable holidays in Wales: where to book for cheap glamping

With the cost of living showing no signs of abating, you may be looking for something more affordable this year. Whilst holiday cottages and hotels can be notoriously expensive, glamping offers you quality accommodation without paying through the nose.

Glamping in our Landpods or bell tents in Wales starts at just £50 per night and offers a cheap holiday with lots of frills attached. Split this cost between four or five people and it works out to be even more cost-effective for luxury camping on a budget.

All of our hostels feature fully-equipped self-catering kitchens which glamping guests are welcome to use. Eating out during trips can be expensive, especially if you have a family, so preparing your own meals can really help to keep costs down. The self-catering kitchens come equipped with appliances such as microwaves, hobs, and ovens, as well as all the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery you need to cook up a storm. Just no falling out over who does the washing up!

Miles of beautiful walking routes on the Wales coast path

Pembrokeshire National Park is a haven for hikers. If you’re looking for a long-distance challenge, then try the Pembrokeshire coast path. This National Trail is 186 miles long and runs from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south.

Treat yourself to a glamping stay along the way to rest and recover. The coast path runs right past YHA Manorbier, which is a great place to stop off. You’ll need to refuel, too, and we have just the thing with plenty of tasty options in our restaurant to give you the energy you need to complete your trek.

If you’re not quite up to all that walking, there are plenty of more relaxing wanders to choose from instead. Some of our favourite walking routes in Pembrokeshire include Priest’s Nose and Lydstep Point, a six-mile figure-of-eight route with spectacular views, or a 12.6-mile hike that takes in Penally, Tenby, St Florence, and Lydstep.

Bell tents at YHA Manorbier

YHA Bell tent interior

If you love camping but don’t like roughing it, then YHA Manorbier’s bell tents make for a fantastic glamping staycation. You can have all the fun of staying in a tent with none of the stress of the set up – or taking the tent down!

These spacious bell tents sleep up to five people, so they’re perfect for families or groups of friends travelling together. There are four premium bell tents here so you can book multiple tents if you’re having a large family holiday or celebrating a special occasion.

Inside, there’s a double bed, two single beds, and a single futon that can be used as a bed or a chair. There are comfy bean bags, rugs, and a wooden storage trunk that doubles up as a coffee table. There’s also an integrated wood burner that you can light when it starts to get colder.

As with all of our glamping sites, guests staying in YHA Manorbier’s bell tents can use all of the facilities inside the hostel building. They also have access to a separate toilet and shower shack, great for freshening up after a night in the outdoors. This also means that you don’t have to queue when you need to go, even when the hostel is busy.

Traditional British seaside holidays

If a traditional seaside break with buckets and spades floats your boat, then Wales has some of the best beach resorts in the country. There’s so much to do on a beach break in Pembrokeshire. Try crabbing with the kids, take a boat trip, or just treat yourself to a 99 with a flake.

Tenby is one of the most delightful towns in Wales. With pastel-coloured buildings, a bustling harbour, and four lovely beaches, there’s loads to see and do here. Take a boat trip from Tenby Harbour to the islands of Caldey and St Margarets. Budding David Attenboroughs should keep their eyes peeled for seals bobbing around in the waves as well as other wildlife and sea birds.

There are so many fabulous beaches to choose from in Pembrokeshire, not least of which is Broad Haven, right on the doorstep of YHA Broad Haven. At low tide, the beach is huge, with plenty of room for kids to let off some steam. Bring the buckets and spades for a sandcastle-building competition, play ball games like cricket or rounders, or pack up some sandwiches and enjoy a picnic.

Let’s face it, we’re all feeling the pinch at the moment. Beach days are a really cost-effective way to have lots of free range fun in the fresh air, so if you’re looking after the pennies on this break, be sure to pop a visit to the shore on the schedule.

Gather around the fire pit

When the weather is fine, you want to make the most of it. Bell tents and Landpods have a personal fire pit outside so you can spend longer in the great outdoors. Grab a couple of blankets, wrap up warm, and get the fire going. One pack of firewood is provided for each stay, and more is available at reception if you need it. Warm chilly fingers and chat about your plans for the holiday.

Bring metal skewers and marshmallows to toast on the fire and prepare hot chocolates in the hostel’s self-catering kitchen for additional treats. There’s nothing more magical than spending quality time together here.

Dog-friendly holidays in Wales

Wales is a fantastic place to holiday with your pooch. Lots of the attractions, pubs, restaurants, and shops in the country are dog-friendly so your pup doesn’t have to miss out. Plus, lots of the beaches welcome dogs, and there are miles of brilliant walkies to get tails wagging.

History buffs will love Pembrokeshire Castle, where well-behaved dogs (and their even better-behaved owners) are welcome. There are over a thousand years of history to explore here, and free guided tours are offered each day. If you really want to treat your dog to a day out, visit Heatherton World of Activities. Dogs are allowed in all of the activity areas, and some are especially for four-legged-friends. Try the dog agility course to see if your dog has what it takes to be the next star of Crufts.

Glamping is the perfect base for you and your dog, and the majority of our glamping accommodation in Wales is dog-friendly. You can bring up to two dogs with you for £5 each per night. Good boys and girls will love our extensive grounds, where they can stretch their legs before curling up in front of the wood burner in their cosy pod or tent.
