Facing the future, inspired by the past

YHA was founded in 1930, born from a resolve to better the lives of young people. Almost nine decades on, we remain guided by the same ethos – and we’re still making a difference every week. Our recent Impact Review 2019/20 showed more than 410,000 young people had stayed with us over the previous year, with a quarter of them taking part in YHA-led activities.

But we’re not stopping there. Our past still shapes what we stand for. Today, almost 800,000 young people are not in education, employment or training. Mental health disorders and physical inactivity are rife. We want to change this – and you can help. Our YHA Strategy 2020 marks out a 10-year path to our centenary in 2030, and we’d love you to read our proposals and give us your feedback.

Our strategy is ambitious. It will see us reaching more people and growing our impact, with a focus on those who could benefit the most, in an era that needs us more than ever.

And it will establish YHA as a leading national charity and social enterprise.

Contact us at [email protected] or via Twitter @YHAOfficial using #YHAStrategy2020. Your thoughts matter.

Thank you for your time and input. We look forward to working together to deliver the strategy for those we serve and those we aim to reach.
