Bloggers get a taste for Supper Club at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall

On 22nd October, we invited 14 outdoor, lifestyle and travel bloggers to YHA Castleton Losehill Hall to promote YHA’s Supper Club.

Supper Club is a communal two-course meal which encourages hostel guests to share their travelling experiences and meet fellow guests. This is the authentic hostel experience where travellers can bond over a delicious evening meal after a day of adventuring.

The event was hosted at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, perfectly situated in the heart of the rolling Peak District. We were led on a scenic guided tour by two members of the YHA Castleton Losehill Hall team who took us up Losehill and across to Hollins Cross. The weather was definitely on our side as our day was bright, dry and sunny. Once we (finally!) reached the summit, the views of Mam Tor and Hope Valley were incredible. There were definitely great photo and video opportunities.

After a challenging but beautiful ramble, we traded our walking boots for our slippers as we competed in some classic board games. Selected YHA hostels offer sets of Scrabble, Monopoly, draughts, chess and Cluedo, providing an opportunity for some digital downtime for guests who wish to escape their screens during a break with YHA.

We had definitely worked up an appetite on our Peak Disirict hike which was fulfilled by a hearty, two-course meal provided as part of the YHA Supper Club. For the meat eaters, a succulent chicken and vegetable pie with mixed vegetables and gravy was served, and for the veggies, the option was an indulgent broccoli and cauliflower pasty with mixed vegetables and gravy. Vegan and gluten free options are also available when staying with YHA.

Personally, I couldn’t imagine anything better after a hike. Resting tired feet and filling hungry tummies with a selection of local produce, topped with a golden croustade of flaky pastry. The only thing I always end up debating; what to wash it down with!

Following Supper Club, it was time to carry on the fun and games in the dining room, cosied up in front of the roaring log burner. Laughs were had, stories told, and fond memories shared by the glow of the hearth. After an enjoyable and busy day, it was time to hunker down and get some rest to be up bright and early for breakfast.

Our trip was short and sweet and the bloggers thoroughly enjoyed their time with us which you can read about on their blogs or Instagram accounts. Supper Club was a great setting for everyone to get to know one another and YHA Castleton Losehill Hall was the perfect base. Surrounded by forest with beautiful sky-high peaks at every angle, what more could you look for when needing to find a countryside bolthole where you can rest and recharge.
