New year, new ways to challenge yourself

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new year.
So let’s make 2019 the year you experienced more than you ever thought you would, had bigger adventures than you ever imagined and pushed yourself further than you ever thought possible.
Why not challenge yourself to do something out of your comfort zone and change young lives in the process?

New year, new ways to challenge yourself

You already know how good it feels to walk through our door after a day of fresh air and exploring, but did you know that YHA is also a leading youth charity? We transform young lives through travel and real adventure because we know how your perception of the world can shift in one life-changing moment (moments like these).

You can help us create those moments by challenging yourself and raising money to support us. We’ve suggested a few events to get you started, or you can strike out on your own to raise sponsorship through a challenge that’s uniquely yours. However you challenge yourself, you’ll have support from us every step of the way.

From fun runs to marathons, there are more running events around than you could shake a stick at. For a spectacular experience, sign up for one of our places at the London Landmarks Half Marathon and take in the sights of the capital while raising money for young lives.

Alternatively, take a look at these races we’ve picked out for your inspiration…

Let’s go ride a bike, up to the highest heights (or lowest lows or flattest flats, whatever floats your boat). Cycling is a great way to get your heart rate up, feel the wind through your hair and do some good for charity.
We have places for this year’s Ride London, or you can saddle up for any other event that takes your fancy…

When it comes to walking, England and Wales have it all. From rolling hills to towering fells, dramatic coastlines to wooded valleys, there’s a route to suit every walking boot. Enjoy the best the British countryside has to offer and raise money to change young lives along the way.

Extreme Adventures

If you’re looking for a challenge with a capital C, you don’t need to look far. We’ve got places on a number of adventure challenges run by Rat Race, experts in adventure sports.
Take on ‘The Wall’, a 69-mile ultra-marathon along Hadrian’s Wall, pit yourself against the Cornish coast or run 22 miles over the summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales. 2019 is your year.
