I was lucky enough to catch Choral Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral while researching an upcoming feature. The building is one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen, both in its size and weight of history. But when that was filled with the beautiful voices of its choir, well, it moved me to tears.

Taking the kids to YHA The Sill at Hadrian’s Wall and watching them run wild at nearby Housesteads Roman Fort was great. It’s a hugely atmospheric spot, but when you’ve got an eight-year-old pretending to be a marauding barbarian,it takes the fun to a whole new level.
