Another great property owned by YHA is YHA Swanage, which I visited in the summer holiday. As soon as a we walked through the door, a boy came up to us and asked if we would like to play. The hostel has a fantastic games room complete with lots of fun board games and plenty of space to play.

YHA Swanage

Our bedroom had two bunk beds but the best bit was that it had stunning views over-looking the sea. Once we had checked in, we decided to visit a local town called Corfe Castle. The picturesque town had an amazing bakery and lots of giftshops full of lovely souvenirs. Inside the castle’s grounds, there was a medieval village which gave visitors an insight into what life was like in the middle ages – my sister dressed up as a knight!

On the second day of our visit we walked along the coastal path to a place called Dancing Ledge. After we had admired the view, we walked all the way along to the village of Worth and rewarded ourselves with a drink at a pub called the Square and Compass, which my dad had read about in a book. Swanage beach, the town and the pier are all extremely close to the YHA meaning that if you want a relaxing holiday without the need for your car, this would be the perfect place for you!
