Your guide to Ride London accommodation

Need to plan your accommodation for Ride London? Now is the time to ensure you hav accommodation base plans in place ready for the big weekend.

The event features three separate routes allowing involvement for cyclists of all abilities, from a professional feature race through to a shorter ‘sportive’ designed to attract newer and younger participants. You can even take part in the event to raise crucial funds for YHA, helping us with our mission to transform young lives.

Whether you’re taking part and need a good night’s sleep ahead of the race, or simply want to enjoy seeing some of the world’s best cyclists taking on a course around one of the world’s most iconic cityscapes, YHA have plenty of Ride London accommodation bases to ensure your needs are catered for.

Best for: accessing the start line

If you’re travelling to London from the east or the north, YHA London Lee Valley is perfect for you. Positioned just a stone’s throw from Cheshunt station, which enjoys a leisurely, 25-minute train journey into Stratford (where the race begins), the hostel boasts a cycle store and is super-close to Lee Valley Country Park, ideal for stretching your legs and turning the pedals over in preparation for the race.

Best for: accessing the finish line

For those wishing to cheer on their friends, family and cycling heroes as they cross the finish line, you’ll have to make your way into central London. All of the races climax at The Mall – one of London’s most recognisable sites and also the scene of the finish to the London Marathon. Base yourself at YHA London Central and steadily head across to The Mall via the buzz of Oxford Street, Mayfair and Green Park as the cyclists get closer to the finish.

Best for: spectators looking to get a great view

If you simply wish to take in the race from the most dramatic angles whilst enjoying a weekend break in London, there’s plenty of choice! Perhaps the best place to be is by the River Thames, as from here you can easily enjoy periods at both the start and end of the race, while being in sight of numerous well-known London attractions such as the Tower of London, The London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. In terms of Ride London accommodation close by, save the pennies and head to some of our trendiest hostels at YHA London Oxford Street or YHA London Earl’s Court.

Best for: enjoying the scenery outside of the city

Whilst it may be termed ‘Ride London’, a reasonable portion of the longer, 100-mile ride takes place outside of the confines of the M25 in some of Surrey’s most beautiful (and undulating!) countryside. Ride London will visit a number of the county’s prettiest towns and villages, including Holmbury St Mary. Here you can find Ride London accommodation at YHA Holmbury St Mary Surrey Hills, ideal for giving you the best spot from which to enjoy the race as it passes by.
