Bath is typically associated with its Georgian architecture and Roman baths, but there are many alternative things to do in Bath if you fancy something different. Here’s our top picks…

Boutique and independent shopping

With independent and stylish shops outnumbering the familiar high street stores, Bath is home to a plethora of outlets to suit your tastes. Some firm favourites among the locals include Bloomsbury & co, the place to go for great gift ideas and quirky items. If you like to bury your nose in a good book then Topping & co is a must.

Victoria Falls Adventure Golf

This 18 hole adventure golf course situated in the centre of Bath is a great if you’re looking for fun. Navigate the course over rushing waterways and waterfalls and push your putting skills to the limit.

Thermae Bath Spa

Thermal Bath Spa is a day spa where you can bathe in the warm, natural mineral-rich waters and choose from a range of spa treatments designed to ease the body and soothe the mind. Enjoy Britain’s only natural thermal waters as the Celts and Romans did over 2000 years ago.

Rock climbing at Cheddar Gorge

If you are looking for something more extreme then this is the perfect activity for you. When visiting Bath why not take the time to rock climb in Britain’s biggest gorge. An opportunity you don’t get every day! There are 7 routes up the rock face to choose from, ranging from very easy to quite difficult. For an underground alternative, sign up for an afternoon of Cheddar Gorge adventure caving.

Bath Escape Room

For a truly unique adventure, visit the Bath Escape Room. Try to solve the clues in a race against time to make your escape. Work together in teams to complete the challenges. To add a little fright to your adventure sign yourself up for the spooky alternative – the Haunted House Escape. This is a great activity to do with your pals.

The Little Theatre Cinema

For a much more relaxing evening visit the only independent cinema in Bath. Enjoy a glass of wine while you sit back and relax to a good film. Little Theatre has been the centre of Bath entertainment since 1936, showing quality cinema from around the globe. The combination of art deco styling and cutting edge equipment makes for the perfect cinema experience.

Places to Eat

For a different dining experience book a table at the Green Park Brasserie. Delicious local produce combined with live jazz and much more makes for a wonderful evening. They serve cocktails, draught beers, wines and Fairtrade organic coffee to accompany your meal. For extra value order from their early dinner menu. For more exotic cuisine visit the only Nepalese restaurant in Bath, Yak Yeti Yak. As well as a regular dining room they have authentic Nepalese seating with low level tables and floor cushions. The prices are very reasonable and the menu tasty!

Places to Drink

A firm favourite alternative thing to do in Bath, the Pig and Fiddle, is host to a variety of different music acts throughout the week. They have worked hard to maintain a great reputation by stocking hand pulled local real ale and ciders. There is also a great range of lagers, wines and spirits. Be sure not to miss the Tuesday Night live music sessions, a highlight of the week.
