Our recipe for a perfect Pancake Day!

Whether you have them with sugar and lemon, jam, or even cheese and bacon, nothing beats a pancake for a flipping good treat! Have a go at our top pancake recipe to make sure your day doesn’t fall flat.

A tasty pancake recipe

– 100g plain flour
– 2 eggs
– 300ml semi-skimmed milk
– 1 tbsp oil
– pinch of salt

Method

1. Put the flour and salt into a bowl and mix well. Make a well in the centre and add the egg and about 50ml of the milk. Whisk together gradually until a thick paste is formed, then slowly incorporate the rest of the milk while whisking. It should be about the consistency of paint when you’re done.

2. Cover and leave to rest in the fridge for about half an hour. When ready to cook, heat the pan and wipe with some oiled kitchen roll.

3. Slowly pour a ladleful of batter into the pan, tilting it as you do to ensure the base is completely covered. Leave on the heat for about 30 seconds, then gently shake the pan. If the pancake moves easily, it’s ready to flip!

4. To flip, either move the pancake to the edge of the pan then gently flick it, trying to get the pancake up high enough that it turns over, but not so high it sticks to the ceiling. If you’re not feeling brave, place a plate over the top of the pan, turn it over, then slide the pancake cooked side up back into the pan from the plate.

5. Leave to cook for about 30 seconds more, then serve.
